P.A.M. Turns First-Quarter Profit

Truckload carrier P.A.M. Transportation Services on Wednesday reported a first-quarter profit for the first time in five years.

P.A.M. said its net income was $674,000, or 8 cents per share, compared with a loss of $1.98 million, or 21 cents, a year ago. Revenue climbed 13.1% to $96 million.

The carrier said it has reduced the average age of its truck fleet to 2.43 years, from 3.28 years in the first quarter of 2011.

P.A.M. is ranked No. 62 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
