PHOENIX — Paccar Leasing Co., or PacLease, is making onboard vehicle diagnostics available to its lease and rental customers on all new Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks equipped with the Paccar MX-13 engine.

Kenworth’s TruckTech+ and Peterbilt’s SmartLinq remote diagnostics systems will alert customers and local PacLease franchises when the truck requires service, PacLease said.

“This is really game-changing — allowing us to make better and quicker decisions on road maintenance and repairs for our customers,” said Michelle Harry, PacLease’s director of marketing.

The new Kenworth and Peterbilt remote diagnostics platforms, launched at the Mid-America Trucking Show earlier this year, use PeopleNet’s Mobile Gateway hardware to transmit vehicle data.

Since that system is installed in the factory, lease and rental customers also can subscribe to the company’s PacTrac telematics service without having to pay hardware installation costs.

PacLease displayed the technology on a Kenworth T680 model at PeopleNet’s user conference this week.
