Paccar Begins Production of DAF Trucks in Brazil
Paccar Inc. announced it has begun production of DAF trucks at its new $320 million, 300,000-square-foot assembly plant in Brazil.
The 569-acre facility in Ponta Grossa will produce DAF, XF, CF, and LF trucks for the South American market.
“The above-6-ton truck market in Brazil is projected to be over 140,000 units in 2013, with further growth expected in future years,” Paccar CFO Bob Christensen said in a statement.
“The largest and fastest-growing segment of the Brazilian truck market is the premium segment where DAF has launched its flagship model XF-105 vehicle,” he said.
Paccar said it plans for the factory to also produce the CF model designed for regional transportation and heavy construction and the LF model designed for distribution and urban delivery.
In North America, Paccar builds Kenworth and Peterbilt light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
