ess-than-truckload carrier Overnite Transportation Co. said Tuesday it had reduced transit times to three days from four to five days between Southern California and the Southeast.
“These new, cross-country transit improvements will bring Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee under Overnite’s three-day umbrella covering locations from Fresno to San Diego in California,” said Steve Kershner, the company’s vice president of operations.
Overnite has seven Southern California operations centers, in Fresno, Bakersfield, Simi Valley, Los Angeles, Fontana, Orange County and San Diego.
The five southeastern states affected by the reduced cross-country transit times are home to 35 Overnite service centers, the company said.
Overnite is a unit of Overnite Corp., No. 17 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
