ess-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line said Tuesday it plans to make Iteris Inc.’s lane-departure warning system standard equipment for its entire fleet of trucks.

Old Dominion has already purchased the systems for 1,200 of its tractors, the carrier said in a statement.

The company also plans install the new safety equipment on all tractors it purchases in the future.

Lane departure warning systems alert drivers in the event that their truck moves out of its lane unexpectedly.

Old Dominion gave the Iteris lane-departure warning system the go-ahead after testing five of the units over two-years.

Iteris produces vision systems and sensors for monitoring traffic flow.

Old Dominion Freight Line ranks No. 24 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
