Oil Dips to Below $82

Oil prices fell from a near-record Friday to close the trading week at $81.669 a barrel, Bloomberg reported.

Benchmark light sweet crude oil futures had earlier risen to hear an all-time high Friday, topping $83 a barrel following a report that showed higher consumer spending in August, Bloomberg said.

The all-time record Nymex closing price was $83.32, also set on Sept. 20. Thursday’s closing price was $82.88.

Diesel fuel jumped 6.8 cents to $3.034 in Monday’s weekly survey of retail fuel prices.
