Obama Signs Bill Easing Restrictions for Propane Delivery

President Obama has signed into law legislation intended to help provide emergency relief during the propane and home-heating fuels crisis.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), the House Transportation Committee Chairman, on Feb. 25. The law will allow the Department of Transportation to extend emergency declarations up to May 31 to permit tank truck operators delivering propane and other home heating fuels to drive for longer hours to speed up deliveries to affected states.

“This law provides some assurance that transportation and distribution issues that have contributed to this fuel crisis will no longer be a concern during this cold, lingering winter,” Shuster said in a statement.
