Orders for new trailers in November rose 17% from a year earlier to 25,670, ACT Research reported.

However, November Class 8 orders were only up 3% from October, when orders surged 43% from the previous month.

“Cancellations continued to be low, and that appears to be the result of firm commitments by fleets,” Frank Maly, director of commercial vehicle transportation analysis at ACT, said in a Dec. 20 statement.

ACT said the growth was fueled by gains in dry vans, flatbeds and liquid tankers.
