Navistar Inc. announced Thursday it has launched production of its International TranStar regional-haul Class 8 tractor, the fifth heavy-duty International model to transition to selective catalytic reduction technology since December.

The truck has a MaxxForce 13 engine made by Navistar, the company said.

“We continue to rapidly increase our 15-liter and 13-liter product coverage, and we remain on track to complete the SCR transition of our heavy-duty truck offerings,” said Bill Kozek, Navistar’s president of North America truck and parts.

“The trucks we are building today are the highest quality trucks Navistar has ever built, and they offer improved fuel economy with the same off-the-line responsiveness,” he said in a statement.
