National Carriers Inc. Joins ATA

ational Carriers Inc. said Thursday it joined American Trucking Associations to work more closely with its industry counterparts in advancing the interests of trucking.

The company rejoined ATA after a five-year absence and at a time when the industry is facing rising fuel costs, potential changes to hours-of-service regulations, difficulty in recruiting drivers, higher insurance premiums, and the reauthorization of the federal highway bill.

The company's president, Richard Rees, said he was "pleased to rejoin the ATA. We feel a responsibility to participate in formulating and implementing solutions to the problems that beset the trucking industry today."



National Carriers, based in Liberal, Kan., is an irregular route common and contract carrier, transporting general commodities throughout the continental United States and Canada. It operates more than 900 tractors and 1,175 trailers assigned to its various divisions.
