Nafta Trade Value Rises 10.2% in June

U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico in June increased to $103 billion, up 10.2% from 2013, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported Aug. 28.

Trucks carried 59.5% of the trade among North American Free Trade Agreement partners. Trucks transported $31.4 billion of exports and $29.8 billion of imports. Trade by truck increased 7.8% year-over-year, and rail rose 4.5%.

U.S.-Canada trade for the month by truck increased 5.3%, and rail increased 45%. Trucks carried 53.7% of the $57.9 billion in freight to and from Canada.

Trade with Mexico by truck increased 10.6% from last year and accounted for 66.9% of the $45.1 billion of freight moved to and from the country.
