A Mexican owner-operator is seeking approval from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for the U.S.-Mexico cross-border trucking pilot program.

Jose Guadalupe Morales Guevara, doing business as Fletes Morales, is an owner-operator based in Ensenada, Baja California. He asked for operating authority for himself and one truck, a 2002 Freightliner.

Participation by Mexican carriers remains low under the U.S.-Mexico cross-border trucking program, which began under the Bush administration but was suspended in 2009 and restarted last October.

FMCSA audited Fletes Morales’ operations in January, the agency said in a July 11 Federal Register notice and the public has 10 days to file comments.
