efrigerated truckload carrier Marten Transport said late Thursday it earned $6.4 million or 44 cents a share in the third quarter, up 33% from $4.8 million or 33 cents a year earlier.

Marten’s operating revenue rose 21.6% to $119.1 million.

Freight revenue excluding fuel surcharges and non-freight revenue rose 11.3% from a year earlier to $98.6 million, the company said in a statement.

Marten said it measures revenue excluding fuel surcharges and other revenue because it “provides a more consistent basis for comparing results of operations from period to period.”

Marten Transport, which rejoined American Trucking Associations in May, is ranked No. 57 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
