March Construction Spending Rises 0.2%

Construction spending rose 0.2% in March, the second straight monthly increase, the Commerce Department said Monday.

The gain followed a revised 1.5% increase in February that was more than originally reported.

The increase matched economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.

Private residential construction fell 1% following a 1.8% increase.

Construction spending can boost demand for trucking services because spending increases the number of shipments of goods and building materials.
