LTL Talks Slated to Resume in Mid-February

The negotiating committee of the Teamsters union said Wednesday that its contract talks with four leading less-than-truckload carriers will resume during the week of Feb. 10.

The Teamsters National Freight Industry Negotiating Committee said on the union's Web site that the union and representatives of ABF Freight System, Roadway Express, USF Holland and Yellow Transportation have agreed to go back to work on a new National Master Freight Agreement.

A spokeswoman from the Motor Freight Carriers Association told Transport Topics that the statement by the Teamsters was accurate.

On Jan. 20, the Teamsters walked away from the bargaining table and began preparations for strike authorization votes (Click here for related coverage.).

The NMFA, and related contracts, currently cover 85,000 workers at 65 companies and expires on March 31.
