Lineage Logistics Acquires Seattle Cold Storage

Lineage Logistics said it has acquired Seattle Cold Storage and its facilities at Algona, Wash., and the Port of Tacoma, Wash. Terms were not disclosed.

Seattle Cold Storage has 420,000 square feet of freezer and chilled storage capacity at its two locations and provides temperature-controlled storage, retail distribution and transportation services, according to Lineage.

Lineage said the acquisition gives it 13 million square feet of refrigerated warehouse space, making it the second-largest refrigerated warehouse network globally.

“We plan to make long-term improvements to the facilities to enhance capacity and increase energy efficiency,” said Adam Forste, managing director of Lineage’s parent company, Bay Grove Capital, a San Francisco investment firm.

Bay Grove said it has built Lineage up in the past four years through nine acquisitions, including the July 2012 purchase of Castle & Cooke Cold Storage in Colton, Calif.
