ruckload carrier Knight Transportation said late Wednesday its net income for the second quarter was $15 million or 26 cents a share, compared with $11.4 million or 20 cents a year earlier.

Knight's revenue rose 27% to $256.1 million, the company said in a statement.

“With 20% growth in revenue before fuel surcharges and an operating ratio of 79.3%, this ranks as one of our better quarters in recent memory," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Knight.

Knight is ranked No. 49 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
