Kenan Advantage Group has completed its acquisition of Paul’s Hauling Ltd.

The North Canton, Ohio-based tank truck transportation and logistics provider said the acquisition, announced Oct. 2, was completed through its Canadian subsidiary, KAG Canada/RTL Westcan. Paul’s Hauling provides bulk transport services in western Canada. Paul Albrechtsen founded the company in 1957.

“We have a long history and positive relationship with Paul’s Hauling,” KAG Chief Operating Officer Grant Mitchell said in a statement. “At one point in our past, our two companies fell under the same Canadian ownership. This transaction is a natural fit for us based on the many synergies in our operations, such as geographic locations, products hauled, customer base and operating systems.”

KAG Canada will acquire 233 tractors, 353 trailers, 192 professional drivers and 112 operational personnel. The company will gain several locations in Canada as well. Paul’s Hauling Vice President Rod Corbett also joins KAG Canada as the executive vice president of business administration.

“Paul’s Hauling and Westcan Bulk were founded and built by Paul Albrechtsen, who started his business in Canada with one truck,” Corbett said. “Paul passed away in 2019, and it was his wish that the two companies be under the same ownership once again. I’m pleased we were able to honor his request.”

This acquisition of a Canadian company follows another one made by KAG recently when it announced Sept. 18 it had acquired Les Distributions Carl Beaulac Inc.

KAG is ranked No. 22 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. — Transport Topics
