Jobless Claims Rise 6,000 for Week

Initial jobless claims rose by 6,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

First-time claims increased to 371,000 for the week ended Saturday, slightly higher than economists’ forecasts of 370,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, fell by 1,000 to 365,750 claims.
