Jobless Claims Fall 21,000, Labor Dept. Reports

he number of U.S. workers filing for initial unemployment benefits fell 21,000 to 330,000 for the week ended June 4, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

The drop was about in line with economists' forecast of a drop to 333,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, fell to 331,750 from 334,500.



The number of people filing continuing jobless claims decreased to 2.588 million the week ended May 28 from 2.592 million the previous week, Labor said.

The four-week average of continuing claims fell to 2.587 million, from 2.589 million.
