Jobless Claims Decline for Week

Initial jobless claims fell by 10,000 last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

New claims fell to 382,000 for the week ended Saturday, below economists’ forecasts of a drop to 385,000 from the originally reported 388,000 in the prior week, Bloomberg reported. It was the lowest level since Feb. 26.

The four-week moving average of new claims, a less volatile measure, dropped to 389,500.

Continuing claims for the previous week ended March 26 fell by 9,000 from a week earlier, to 3.72 million.
