Truckload carrier J.B. Hunt Transport Services said its third-quarter net income fell to $40 million, or 31 cents per share, from $60.3 million, or 47 cents, a year earlier.
Revenue slipped 16% to $834 million, the company said late Monday. Operating income fell to $71 million, from $106 million a year ago.
The company’s trucking segment took an operating loss of $400,000, compared with operating income of $2.5 million a year ago. Revenue fell to $119.2 million, from $170.6 million.
Intermodal segment operating income fell 33% to $50 million, while revenue fell 14% to $425 million.
Its dedicated contract services segment’s operating income fell 30% to $19 million, while revenue declined 19% to $197 million.
