iTECH: Ryder's Freedom of Information Act
Whether it’s providing reports and real-time diagnostics advice on the corporate Intranet or satellite-based road service (see box), Ryder officials like Larry Hibler believe technology is key to future growth for this third-party logistics and vehicle-maintenance giant, which serves customers as small as one-truck landscape operations or companies as large as the Fortune 1000 throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Hibler, who is Ryder’s manager of maintenance information technology and diagnostics, points out that Ryder has earned recent citations from publications like InternetWeek as one of the top U.S. companies for effective use of Internet tools. And he adds that the company “has been on the leading edge of introducing and designing new tools.”
