iTECH: More Online Options for Fuel Management
This year has witnessed the emergence of new fuel management options — including Internet-enabled tools. In the past, fuel optimization systems have carried price tags from $70,000 into the six-digit field, tending to put them out of reach of many smaller carriers. The new software and Internet options are being offered as more affordable fuel management products by companies that already provide fuel cards and other services.
Integrated Decision Support Corp., Richardson, Texas, launched its online fuel optimization program, FuelAdvice.com, early in June, and the software provider eventually plans to make its tools for analyzing bids, consolidating loads, swapping trailers and assigning tractors available in the ASP format, said Ben Murphy, IDSC vice president and general manager.
An Internet-based service from EFS Transportation Services, called EFS Online, is available to the company’s fuel card customers on a subscription basis, and according to the company, small and large carriers can use it.
