IT Pros Tell D/C Expo Attendees to Carefully Consider Purchases

CHICAGO — Software and logistics professionals cautioned supply chain executives here that companies frequently make mistakes selecting information technology or logistics providers because they don’t understand their own needs.

"Just because technology is out there doesn’t mean you can solve every problem with technology," Tom Lemke, executive vice president for Cadec Corp., said at the Distribution/Computer Expo 2002 held May 21-23.

The trade show featured software, systems and services for supply chain applications.

In fact, some said companies choosing the wrong IT application can often make things worse.
