International to Build Class 8 Engines in Huntsville, Ala.

Truck maker International Truck and Engine Corp. said Wednesday it will build its new, Class 8 big-bore diesel engines in Huntsville, Ala.

The engines, known as the MaxxForce 11 and MaxxForce 13, are inline 6-cylinder big-bore designs in the 11-to 13-liter displacement classes, respectively.

Full production of the MaxxForce engine family, the company’s first class 8 offerings, will begin in 2008, International said in a release. Initial engines, which will be available in fall 2007, will be partially assembled in Germany and completed in the Huntsville plant.

International Truck and Engine is a subsidiary of Navistar International Corp.
