Initial Jobless Claims Rise 34,000 for Week

irst-time U.S. jobless claims rose 34,000 last week to 357,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists had expected claims to decline to 315,000 from last week’s initially-reported 321,000, Bloomberg said.

The less-volatile four-week moving average rose to 325,000 from 317,750.



Continuing jobless claims for the week ended Nov. 25 rose to 2.480 million from 2.435 million a week ago.
