Initial Jobless Claims Rise to 320,000 for Latest Week

he number of U.S. workers filing for initial unemployment benefits rose 3,000 to 320,000 for the week ended Aug. 27, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Initial claims have stayed at or below 320,000 for seven straight weeks, the longest such run since 2000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average of claims, a less volatile measure, rose to 316,750 from 315,500, Labor said.



The number of people filing continuing jobless claims rose to 2.607 million for the week ended Aug. 20, from 2.571 million the previous week.
