Initial Jobless Claims Rise 18,000 For Week

irst-time U.S. jobless claims rose to a three-month high last week, jumping 18,000 to 327,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists had expected a rise to 310,000 from last week’s initially-reported 308,000, Bloomberg said.

The less-volatile four-week moving average rose to 311,250 from 305,500.



ontinuing jobless claims for the week ended Oct. 21 fell to 2.415 million — the lowest level since June — from 2.442 million a week earlier.
