Initial Jobless Claims Rise

Initial jobless claims rose by 2,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims climbed to 366,000 for the week ended Saturday, economists had called for an increase to 365,000, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less-volatile measure, dropped to 363,750, from 368,250.

Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended Aug. 4 declined by 31,000, to 3.31 million.
