Initial Jobless Claims Fall 6,000 for Week

irst-time U.S. jobless claims fell 6,000 to 316,000 last week the Labor Department said Thursday.

Economists had predicted that the level would fall to 315,000 from last week’s initially-reported 318,000, Bloomberg said.

The less-volatile four-week moving average fell to 315,000.

ontinuing jobless claims for the week ended Sep. 16 fell to 2.444 million, the lowest level in about two months, from 2.452 million a week earlier.
