he number of U.S. workers filing for initial unemployment benefits fell by 10,000 in the week ended April 9, the Labor Department said Thursday.
The 330,000 claims total was in line with analysts’ projections, Bloomberg reported. Labor had originally reported the previous week’s total at 334,000, which was revised upward to 340,000.
he four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, rose slightly to 338,000 from a revised 337,750.
The number of continuing jobless claims fell to 2.664 million people in the week ended April 2, from 2.686 million the previous week.
The four-week average for continuing claims rose to 2.656 million from 2.651 million, which had been the lowest in four years.
