ASHINGTON — Transportation companies do not yet realize how much new security requirements are going to cost them, a senior Democratic staff member on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee said last week.

Bentzel spoke at a panel discussion on who should be responsible for paying to protect the nation’s transportation infrastructure. The discussion was part of a National Defense Transportation Association May 12-13 conference.
