PHILADELPHIA — Help Inc., provider of the PrePass weigh-station bypass program, has introduced its ElitePass transponder, which expands the reach of its electronic toll-payment services.

The new device extends PrePass Plus toll-payment services to locations in California and Kansas, with sites in Oklahoma, Texas and other locations soon to follow, the non-profit partnership announced.

Toll roads “are a fact of life for all of us,” CEO Karen Rasmussen said at an Oct. 17 press conference here at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition. “I think we’re going to see more of them as highway funding becomes tighter and tighter.”

Help Inc. said the ElitePass transponder enables fleets to use a single device from one provider to bypass weigh stations in more than 30 states and pay tolls electronically in nearly 20.

“It’s going to allow essentially coast-to-coast bypassing and coast-to-coast toll payment for truckers,” Rasmussen said.

The toll-payment expansion includes sites in California managed by the Bay Area Toll Authority, Transportation Corridor Agencies and the South Bay Expressway, and Kansas locations managed by the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

Help Inc. said enrollment in PrePass services has surpassed 530,000 trucks operated by more than 45,000 fleets. The public-private partnership said it has provided nearly 670 million weigh station bypasses since 1997, saving carriers nearly $4.8 billion.
