Goodyear, TIA to Offer Technician Certification

oodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said it is partnering with the Tire Industry Association to offer certified tire-technician training, a move Goodyear said would improve revenues from its commercial tire services.

It is the first collaboration between a tire company and the international industry trade association, according to Goodyear. As part of the agreement, there will be training certification seminars in 48 cities next year, Goodyear said Oct. 31.

Tire technicians from the Goodyear, Dunlop and Kelly dealer network, as well as the company’s Wingfoot Commercial Tire Centers, are eligible for the Goodyear/TIA joint certification, the tire maker said TIA officials were traveling and unavailable for comment.
