Goodyear Cites Some Production Impacts From Rita
oodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said late Monday that it has implemented temporary reductions in production at its North American tire facilities due to disruptions in the some raw materials supplies from the impact of Hurricane Rita in Texas and Louisiana.
While all of Goodyear's North American tire and engineered products plants are operating, its tire production has been reduced by about 30% in response to supplier shortages.
Goodyear said in a statement that it has begun discussions with customers to assess priority product needs, and said no deliveries to customers have been impacted to date.
But because of the uncertainty around supplier shortages and transportation system difficulties associated with the hurricane, Goodyear has declared force majeure under some of its contracts.
