he average retail price of regular gasoline rose almost 13 cents in the past two weeks to a record $2.10 per gallon as of March 18, according to the Lundberg Survey of stations nationwide.

The previous record was $2.07, set on May 21. Gasoline prices have increased 19 cents in the past month and were 33 cents higher than a year earlier, survey editor Trilby Lundberg told the Associated Press.

Lundberg also said prices could still go higher because crude oil prices reached record levels last week, gasoline demand will increase as the weather warms up and refiners reformulate gasoline to accommodate regulations for the summer.

Trucking burns an average of 260 million gallons of gasoline each week.

The Lundburg Survey found the highest price of $2.34 in Honolulu and the lowest price was $1.91 a gallon in Newark, N.J., where there is no self-serve gasoline.
