Gasoline Price Declines Continue, Lundberg Reports

he average price for all grades of gasoline fell 1.65 cents over the past three weeks to $2.16 a gallon, according to the Lundberg survey of filling stations nationwide.

The most popular grade, self-serve regular, averaged $2.13 a gallon, while customers paid $2.23 for midgrade and $2.33 for premium, the survey said.

The most recent drop follows a 6.4-cent drop in overall gasoline prices in the previous survey, taken between May 6 and May 20.



Gasoline prices have dropped 16 cents since record highs in early April but are 12 cents higher than this time last year.

Lundberg reported the lowest price for self-serve regular gasoline was in Charleston, S.C., at $1.99 a gallon. The highest was in Honolulu, at $2.44.
