FMCSA Taking Comments on Mexican Truck Program Applicant

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is allowing the public to comment on an application by Transportation and Cargo Solutions S de RL de CV to participate in the Mexican cross-border trucking pilot program.

The carrier, also known as Trasco, in June passed a safety audit that is required for companies in the program, FMCSA said in a Sept. 30 notice in the Federal Register. Trasco, based in Ciudad Juarez, has four drivers and seven trucks that it would like to use in cross-border operations.

FMCSA discovered regulatory violations concerning driver-qualification records, hours-of-service records and cargo securement, but the problems did not disqualify Trasco, the agency said.

Thirteen Mexico-based carriers have operating authority through the cross-border pilot program.
