FMCSA Schedules 2 More Listening Sessions on Applicant Testing

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has expanded its schedule of listening sessions on how new motor carriers, brokers and freight forwarders should be tested for industry knowledge.

FMCSA said Jan. 8 that it will add two sessions beyond the one already planned. The new sessions will be March 28 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., and April 7 at a Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance conference in Los Angeles.

The previously announced event is Jan. 13 as part of an American Bus Association meeting in Nashville, Tenn.

As part of MAP-21, the two-year highway-funding bill that expires Sept. 30, Congress told FMCSA to test new entrants to the industry on their knowledge of regulations. The three sessions are designed for the agency to gather opinion on how the tests should work and what they should cover before FMCSA releases a proposed rule.
