First-Time Jobless Claims Rise 9,000 for Week

irst-time U.S. jobless claims rose 9,000 last week to 315,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The level matched economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.

The less-volatile four-week moving average fell by 2,000 to 325,750.

ontinuing jobless claims for the previous week ended Dec. 9 rose to 2.52 million, the highest since January, from 2.475 million the previous week.
