Fenway Acquires Refrigerated Carrier Gemini Traffic Sales

Private-equity firm Fenway Partners said Monday it has partnered with the current owners of refrigerated-unit carrier Gemini Traffic Sales to acquire a majority interest in the truckload and less-than-truckload carrier.Gemini, which runs nationwide truckload and regional LTL operations, is Fenway’s first invesment in temperature-controlled trucking and its 17th acquisition in the transportation and logistics area.Terms of the deal were not disclosed.Founded in 1985 by Harry Winrow, Gemini has a fleet of 250 company-owned tractors and owner-operators, along with 400 trailers.Headquartered in Edison, N.J., the company has five terminals including in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas and New Jersey.Fenway last year acquired RoadLink USA, an intermodal carrier and No. 99 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.(Click here for previous coverage.)
