edEx will purchase and upgrade about 90 Boeing 757-200s to replace its fleet of Boeing 757s, Bloomberg reported Monday.

The new aircraft will be put into service between 2008 and 2016, Bloomberg said.

The Boeing 757-200s have greater cargo capacity and use less fuel than the older 727s, Bloomberg reported.

The parcel giant said the addition of the new planes will not affect its earnings.

FedEx is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
