edEx Corp. unit FedEx Custom Critical said Tuesday that it was offering temperature-sensitive air-freight shipments with a system called Temp-Assure Validated Air.

FedEx said the option conforms to Good Manufacturing Practices and features a validation master plan. It also includes standard operating procedures for shipping temperature-sensitive air freight — and facilitates compliance for customers regulated by organizations such as the Food and Drug Administration.

Temp-Assure Validated Air can be used for shipments traveling internationally or moving coast-to-coast across North America, the company said. It features recording devices to capture temperature readings within the air-cargo container, door-to-door shipment tracking and hard-copy temperature documentation.

FedEx Corp. is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
