FedEx Sees ‘Flat’ Shipments in Fiscal 2010

FedEx Corp. predicted that shipping volumes will remain “relatively flat” in the fiscal year started last month amid “continued softness in demand,” Bloomberg reported.

Revenue for the year ending in May 2010 will be “negatively impacted” on lower prices and intense competition, the parcel carrier said Wednesday in its annual report. The FedEx Express unit will likely have “flat” volumes in the fiscal year, Bloomberg said.

Chief Financial Officer Alan Graf said last month that the economy was so volatile that FedEx couldn’t give a full-year earnings forecast, Bloomberg said.
