Memphis, Tennessee, airport officials will consider leasing about 15 more acres to their largest tenant, FedEx.

It's unclear what FedEx has planned for the land at the southeastern corner of its FedEx Express world hub. Maintenance hangars for air cargo planes are nearby.

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority board is scheduled to vote on a lease of up to 50 years for sites of the airport administration building at 3505 Tchulahoma Road and airfield maintenance complex at 3318 Winchester Road.

The board also will vote on a design contract for a new airfield maintenance facility. A $1.89 million contract with a joint venture of The Horrell Group/Self Tucker Architects is being recommended by staff.

The airport board recently approved a construction contract for administrative office space in the former location of a hotel inside the airport terminal building.

FedEx ranks No. 2 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the United States and Canada.
