ogistics and delivery firm Dynamex Inc. reported net income of $3.2 million or 27 cents a share for its first fiscal 2006 quarter ended Oct. 31. The figures were the same from the same quarter a year earlier.

Sales rose 18.3% to $91 million for the quarter, the company said late Wednesday.

Operating income dropped 4.5% from last year and sales and general expenses rose 17.3%, Dynamex said in a statement.

It said it continues to expect its 2006 net income to range from $1.05 to $1.15 per share.

“Sales growth in both the U.S. and Canada was reasonably strong and only marginally below our 10% target,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rick McClelland.

Dynamex, which provides same-day delivery services in the U.S. and Canada, is ranked No. 71 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
