Durable Goods Orders Rise 0.7%

Durable goods orders rose 0.7% in November, the Commerce Department reported Friday.

The increase followed a 1.1% gain in October that was originally reported as no increase.

It topped economists’ median forecast of a 0.3% increase, Bloomberg reported.

Bookings for nondefense capital equipment, excluding aircraft, rose 2.7% following a revised 3.2% increase in October.

Durable goods include large items such as refrigerators and air conditioners. Trucking is a major beneficiary of durable goods manufacturing, hauling both components and finished goods.
