Driving Competition Turns Bosses Into Cheerleaders
AMPA, Fla. — At the 68th annual National Truck Driving Championships, sponsored by the American Trucking Associations, trucking company executives found it easy to get caught up in the frenzy of the competition. At times, they became the loudest cheerleaders for their own drivers. Some execs even joined a group of former co-workers and employees in their hooting and hollering.
If one of their drivers wins, trucking company executives can reap the benefits of the publicity. But beyond the glory, the trucking executives see the value of this competition as keeping drivers focused on safety.
“I love this and believe competing each year in this competition is vital for any trucking company to help drive home the importance of overall safe operations,” said Gerald Detter, Quality Distribution’s chief executive officer.
