Alliance Creative Group, a Chicago-based firm engaged in product development, packaging and printing, fulfillment and transportation services, said it will transfer its trucking clients and most of its drivers to Mark-It Express Logistics, a bigger and more established trucking company.

ACG will continue to own and maintain some trucks and drivers, but Mark-It Express will take over the trailer fleet and pick up expenses for insurance, compliance and day-to-day operations, said Paul Sorkin, chief operating officer and general counsel for ACG.

“This deal allows us to stay in a growing industry while leveraging other resources and reducing our risk and exposure,” Sorkin said in a statement April 11. “This arrangement will allow our team to focus more on our core strengths in the product-development industry and free up some time and money to increase our new search for possible opportunities in the real estate and blockchain technology industries.”

Sorkin described trucking as “a challenging industry” and said the partnership with Mark-It, while reducing revenue, will boost the company’s bottom line by “substantially reducing expenses and liabilities.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ACG’s primary business consists of PeopleVine, a digital marketing platform that helps businesses engage customers online.

The company has two transportation service providers. Primary Trucking, an asset-based truckload carrier, is based in Schaumburg, Ill. Rapid Freight Solutions, in Chicago, is a carrier and freight brokerage firm that specializes in less-than-truckload shipping, airfreight, hotshot, trade show, flatbed, intermodal and refrigerated trucking services.

Primary Trucking’s fleet consists of 38 tractors, two straight trucks and 47 trailers, based on registration data on file with the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Mark-It Express Logistics, based in Bridgeview, Ill., operates a fleet of 70 tractors and 5,000 trailers, according to DOT data.

ACG, a publicly owned company with its stock traded over-the-counter under the symbol ACGX, reported net income of $584,410 on revenue of $18.3 million in the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 2017.
